Muskegon Community College is grateful to the veterans who have kept our nation and others safe. Our Veterans Office serves all veterans, veteran dependents/survivors, active duty and Reserve/National Guard personnel. An accredited two-year college, MCC strives to make our veterans’ transition to college as smooth as possible and to equip them with the knowledge and skills to attain their educational and career goals.

Steps for Veterans Benefits (GI Bill® and Voc Rehab)
Apply for VA education benefits (GI Bill®)
Find the online application for veterans here.
- “Claim” you are making
- First time using GI Bill®: Form 22-1990 “Application for VA Education Benefits”
- To transfer your GI Bill® to MCC from another school: Form 22-1995, “Change of Program or Place of Training”
- Application for Vocational Rehabilitation (VA service-connected disability rating of 10% or higher): Form 28-1900 Disabled Veterans Application
- Note: The VA pays the GI Bill® by direct deposit. Have a bank routing number and bank account number on hand to complete the application.
- Qualify for more than one VA Program? Compare the benefits here.
- The VA will mail you a Certificate of Eligibility (CoE) once processed (up to 30 days).
Request military credit transcripts and previous official college transcripts. Most transcripts can be sent electronically.

Apply for VA Education Benefits (Montgomery GI Bill® – Select Reserve)

- Note: the VA pays the GI Bill® by direct deposit. Have a bank routing number and bank account number on hand to complete the application.

- You have up to $6,000 per academic year (Fall, Winter & Summer semesters).
- Each Fall semester, a new academic year and new $6,000 limit begin.
- Application must be complete within 14 days of the semester start date.
- Spouses of active duty or reserve service members (ranks E-1 to E-5): Please ask about My Career Advancement (MyCAA) or call 1-800-342-9647.

- Online application to use a Post 9/11 GI Bill® that has been transferred to you
- Form 22-1990e: “Application for Family Member to Use Transferred Benefits”
