Muskegon Community College Invites Nominations for Two Alumni Awards
Friday, October 20, 2023
Muskegon Community College (MCC) is calling on the community to help shine a spotlight on the exceptional achievements and contributions of its alumni by nominating outstanding individuals for the esteemed Distinguished Alumni Award and the Alumni Achievement Award.
Sue Samaniego, Chief Advancement Officer, encapsulates the spirit of these awards by stating, “We know that Muskegon Community College alumni are out there doing great things. Help us honor those making a difference in the world and their communities by nominating an alum you know for one of our annual alumni awards. Let’s spread the word about the contributions of our Jayhawks by honoring two great people again this year.”
The Distinguished Alumni Award, a time-honored tradition at MCC, is the institution’s highest honor, designed to recognize remarkable alumni who exemplify the core values of their alma mater through their personal lives, professional accomplishments, and community service. The Distinguished Alumni Award recipient will have the privilege of addressing graduating students at Commencement, inspiring them to reach for the stars and make a positive impact in the world. Award criteria and the nomination form is at www.muskegoncc.edu/alumni-relations/distinguished-alumni-award.
The Alumni Achievement Award acknowledges recent alumni, who are within 15 years of graduating from MCC and have achieved extraordinary success in their professional endeavors. These award recipients will be selected based on criteria that include academic excellence, career achievements, community involvement, and advocacy for higher education. Award criteria and the nomination form is at www.muskegoncc.edu/alumni-relations/home/alumni-achievement-award.
Nominations for both awards are due December 15, 2023. The award recipients will be celebrated at the annual Alumni Award dinner in May 2024, offering an opportunity to recognize emerging talents and their promise to shape the future.
“This is a remarkable opportunity to be part of a tradition that celebrates the exceptional accomplishments and contributions of MCC alumni,” commented Amy Swope, who coordinates the award process. “We look forward to acknowledging more outstanding alumni who are leaving a positive mark on their communities.”
