Overview of Foundation & Advancement
The mission of the Foundation for MCC is to build strong, collaborative relationships that connect generosity to opportunities to build an educated, inclusive community through MCC.
FMCC Mission & Values
The FMCC believes that accessible, affordable, high-quality education is critical to the success of West Michigan. Our values are:
- Collaboration: We provide inclusive opportunities for impactful philanthropy and strategic partnerships with community-based organizations.
- Empowerment: We seek to empower students and create a profound student experience by eliminating barriers and securing resources to support student success and fulfillment, allowing them to meet their highest personal and professional goals.
- Trust: We respect the resources entrusted to our care by our donors and partners, and we honor this trust through professional administration, prudent financial stewardship, and transparent communication.
- Community: We encourage and inspire lifelong growth and learning in our students, alumni, employees, and community members.
Ways to Support MCC
Your generous gifts provide students with fulfilling and life-changing educational experiences to prepare them for careers in our communities. All support is deeply appreciated.
Leave a Legacy
Leave a legacy: A planned gift to MCC will benefit future generations in our communities. The strength of our communities unquestionably depends on a strong and vibrant community college to sustain and grow the workforce needed for individuals and communities to prosper in West Michigan. There are some surprisingly easy and uncomplicated “tools” available.
Talk with Your Life Insurance Provider – One simple way to leave a legacy of learning is to ask your life insurance provider to list Muskegon Community College as a beneficiary on your policy for a specified dollar amount or a percentage that you determine.
Remember MCC in Your Estate Planning – Allocate a portion of your estate to the College in your last will and testament. Gifts may support many areas: College endowment fund, student financial assistance, specific academic programs, and facility improvements.
Create a Named Fund – Creating and naming a fund within the Foundation for Muskegon Community College provides a means of honoring a family member or other loved one, while also benefiting the College. For assistance with this or any other option, contact Sue Samaniego, Foundation Director, at (231) 777-0427.
An Evening With MCC
In anticipation of its centennial celebration in 2026, Muskegon Community College has established a signature fundraising event that celebrates its century-long commitment to the Lakeshore. Dubbed, “An Evening with MCC,” the gala, held annually, showcases the impact the college has made on the surrounding community through heartfelt testimonials. The event has already become a vibrant tradition, drawing together alumni, faculty, and community partners to celebrate the college’s enduring legacy and ambitious future. CLICK HERE for more info.

Fundraising Priorities
Fundraising priorities are determined by college, community, and student needs. Our top priorities include:
Arts and Humanities
Liberal arts studies encourage critical thinking and analytical skills crucial to employment in almost any field.
- Completion of the Large Ensemble Room for the music department will allow for larger groups to rehearse and provide additional performance space.
- Renovations and upgrades to bring the Overbrook Theater up to date and improve performances and the audience experience.
Student Success Fund
Provides support and assistance to help students achieve their academic dreams. Examples of areas these funds may be used are the Jayhawk Hub (food pantry and resource center), scholarships, and student emergency funds (to overcome unforeseen economic circumstances that might otherwise prevent them from attending and completing classes).
Area of greatest need
Unrestricted donations give FMCC the flexibility to meet current needs of students and programs.
Frye Veteran’s Student Success Fund
Fund established by Nancy Williams Frye and Hughie Douglas Frye to help veterans work through emergency financial situations while attending MCC.
Donor’s choice
Designate your gift to the area which most inspires you. You decide which path to student success you would like to support.
