Community invited to make music at local college
Thursday, January 9, 2025
Muskegon Community College (MCC) is inviting vocalists from across the Lakeshore area to join its “College Singers” class for the Winter 2025 Semester. Offered through MCC’s Continuing Education department, the class is affordable, open to everyone regardless of MCC enrollment status, and offers a unique opportunity for individuals of all ages to engage with and contribute to the vibrant musical life of the community.
The class will run on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2PM to 3:15 PM beginning January 13 through April 28, 2025, at the Main Campus Art and Music Building. It will be taught by Instructor/Director Nicholas Palmer.
During the first-class session, auditions will be conducted to ensure the best match between participants and the ensemble. The group maintains high standards of musical excellence, with multiple performances planned throughout the year for audiences of all backgrounds.
“Being part of the College Singers is not just about making music; it’s about building connections, having fun, and experiencing the joy of performing together,” said Muskegon Community College Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, Stephanie Briggs. “Music education is enriching for everyone, regardless of age. It boosts creativity, reduces stress, and brings people together in meaningful ways.”
Community members are encouraged to take advantage of this engaging and rewarding musical opportunity. The class begins in January 2025, and interested participants are encouraged to register soon as spots are limited.
