Derrick is the Director of Equity at Muskegon Community College. Previously, he served as the Director for Athletic Inclusion at Grand Valley State University where he oversaw over 750 student athletes and athletic staff.  He facilitates, presents, and creates spaces of inclusion and belonging in the area of athletics.

Derrick is a Grand Rapids native and a Pillar of the West Michigan community.  He has a background in DEIB, recruitment, and higher education. Derrick earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in Human Resources at Davenport University.  Derrick played for  Davenport University for two seasons.  Derrick earned his master’s degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix.

Derrick is a servant leader who has a passion for standing in the gap for marginalized communities. Derrick serves his community and has become a bridge to the youth in the community.
