WHY surgical technology?

Surgical Technology is an U.S. Department of Labor registered apprenticeship program for current employees of participating healthcare agencies. Students from community colleges participating in the Education Partners in Collaboration (EPIC) program are eligible for entry. At this time, the program is only open to apprenticeship students. Muskegon Community College (MCC) and West Shore Community College (WSCC) host the Surgical Technology program in collaboration with the EPIC consortium.

In order to enroll in the program, an individual must be employed and selected by one of the participating healthcare agencies.

Qualifying students must submit an application to Michigan Colleges Online, which will forward the names and contact information to MCC or WSCC. Prospective students must have a FAFSA on file at their home colleges.

All classes are held online through Michigan Colleges Online, which is part of the Michigan Community College Association. Labs and clinical coursework will be held at the participating local healthcare agencies. The five-semester, 60-credit hour program leads to an Associate of Applied Science in Surgical Technology.
