Fair Shines Light on Muskegon NGOs

Monday, March 31, 2025
Muskegon Community College’s (MCC) Department of Experiential Learning is proud to present the NGO Fair, an event designed to connect students with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) making a difference in the greater Muskegon area. The fair will take place on April 3, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM in the Gerber Lounge at MCC.
The event will showcase a diverse range of NGOs, each highlighting their mission and impact in areas such as healthcare, environmental conservation, economic development, and social services. Students will have the opportunity to engage directly with organization representatives, explore potential internships and volunteer roles, and gain insight into the vital work these nonprofits contribute to the Muskegon community.
To encourage participation, students who visit and interact with all the NGOs will receive a passport for the event. Those who complete their passport by engaging with each organization will be entered into a contest to win MCC-branded swag.
“The NGOs in Muskegon County play an essential role in strengthening our community, addressing critical needs, and fostering positive change,” said MCC Social Sciences Adjunct, Michael Dirksen. “Through this fair, we hope our students not only learn about these impactful organizations but also find ways to get involved and make meaningful contributions.”
The NGO Fair exemplifies MCC’s commitment to experiential learning by providing students with hands-on opportunities to engage with civil society organizations, bridging –classroom education with real-world experiences. Participating organizations will benefit from connecting with MCC students who are eager to support and contribute to their causes.
