WHY GERMAN?

German is a Global Connector. More than 185 million people in the world speak German. It is the most frequently spoken language in Europe and among the top 10 most frequently spoken languages in the world.

German is a critical success factor. German is the key to success in college and job opportunities. German companies account for 800,000 jobs in the United States (making them the third largest group of foreign employers in the country). Many colleges require 2 years of a foreign language.

German is the language of science, research and technology. Germany has more than 80 Nobel Prizes in science. It is the world’s third largest “country of researcher” With more than 250,000 scientists working in Germany.

German is the language of music, literature and film. German is a leading language in literature (18% of the world’s books are published in German), in music (famous German composers and orchestras are world know) and in film (the German film industry is making award winning films).

German is easier than you think. German and English share a branch of the Indo-European language tree. You already know Kindergarten, Angst, Bratwurst and many more cognates. German is phonetic – you say what you see. With just a few changes you can read Sommer (summer), Vater (father), Mutter (mother), Haus, (house), Winter (winter) and more.
