WHY ENGINEERING (AS)?
Do you want to know how things work? Do you like building things? Do you like to tackle challenges? Then become an engineer.
Engineering is the application of science and mathematics to solve problems facing society, both big and small, in an efficient way. Engineers create the products, processes, machines, and structures everyone uses on a daily basis. Through their engineering studies, engineers learn to apply the theoretical concepts from the classroom to the difficulties in daily life. Engineering students develop their creativity as well as quantitative and analytical skills; making them very attractive to employers.
Engineering is exciting, rewarding, and challenging. Engineers typically work on design teams composed of people from many fields in different contexts which change as the project changes. Projects can be as small as creating a new fastener or as large as designing skyscrapers or traffic routes. An engineer’s design could save lives or make life better for everyone, not many careers have such an impact on society. Studying engineering also prepares students for many other fields; such as business, medicine, law, or government. Some of the benefits of studying engineering at MCC include small class sizes, affordability, focused attention, and new facilities with updated labs and classrooms.
