Degrees/Certificates

WHY COMPUTER NETWORKING TECHNOLOGY?

Demand for computer network architects will increase as firms continue to expand their use of wireless and mobile networks.

In Michigan, jobs like network systems analysts and network administrators are recognized among the State of Michigan’s Top 50 hot careers. The Muskegon Community College Computer Networking programs allow students a path way to these types of careers.

People working in the field of computer networking help architects design and build data communication networks, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs) like the Internet, extranets and intranets. These networks range from a small connection between a few computers in a single facility to a multinational series of globally distributed communications systems.

Students pursuing a degree or training in this area at Muskegon Community College can create, install and maintain local area networks and are knowledgeable about the protocols and hardware used to transfer data across wide area networks. They learn to work within different network environments and use the latest networking technologies. Students may complete a degree in this field from Muskegon Community College or seamlessly transfer to one of our partner institutions including Ferris State University where students can complete 3 of their 4 years right here at MCC.
