Time is Running Out to Nominate an MCC Graduate for Distinguished Alumni Award

Muskegon Community College (MCC) is reminding the community that the deadline to submit nominations for the prestigious Distinguished Alumni Award is quickly approaching. Nominations will close on December 31, 2024, leaving just a few weeks to recognize an exceptional MCC graduate for the college’s highest honor.
The Distinguished Alumni Award celebrates the remarkable achievements of alumni whose lives, professional accomplishments, and community service exemplify the mission of Muskegon Community College. This award is a testament to MCC’s enduring legacy of shaping leaders and changemakers.
“Our graduates are among the most talented, driven, and impactful individuals in their fields and communities,” said Dr. John Selmon, President of Muskegon Community College. “The Distinguished Alumni Award celebrates the best of the best, showcasing the remarkable leaders and innovators who represent the core values of MCC.”
Award Criteria:
Recipients of the Distinguished Alumni Award are selected based on the following criteria:
- MCC College Career: The nominee must have earned an associate degree, certificate, or completed at least 50 credit hours at MCC, demonstrating excellence in academics and extracurricular activities.
- Professional and Community Achievement: Nominees should have distinguished themselves through career accomplishments, professional training, advanced degrees, recognition in their field, and/or significant contributions to their profession.
- Service to the Community: Nominees must showcase a distinguished record of community involvement.
- Advocacy for Higher Education and MCC: Nominees should demonstrate a successful record of supporting higher education and/or MCC initiatives.
- Commencement Speaker: Award recipients will deliver an address to MCC’s graduating class during Commencement.
