Muskegon Community College (MCC) proudly announces that Ken James, the institution’s Chief Compliance & Title IX Officer, has been honored with the 2025 Exceptional Leadership Award by the Delta Alpha Psi Zeta chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. This prestigious award recognizes outstanding leaders who demonstrate dedication, vision, and a commitment to positive change in their communities.
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., an international historically Black sorority founded in 1920 at Howard University, has a long-standing tradition of championing social causes, fostering unity, and promoting scholastic excellence. The Delta Alpha Psi Zeta chapter, the Muskegon alumni chapter, continues this legacy by recognizing local leaders who embody these principles.

Through James’ leadership, the college has strengthened its policies and initiatives, ensuring a safer and more welcoming environment for all students and staff.

“I am truly honored to receive this award, but any great leader knows it starts by having an amazing team first,” said James. “This honor is a testament to the incredible colleagues and community partners I have the privilege to work with every day.”
Dr. John Selmon, President of Muskegon Community College, praised James for his dedication and leadership.
“Ken James exemplifies the highest standards of leadership and service,” said Dr. Selmon. “His unwavering commitment to bettering student outcomes at MCC has made a lasting impact on both our institution and community. We congratulate him on this well-deserved recognition.”
