MCC Urges Young Adults to Apply for Michigan Reconnect Program Before December 31, 2024
Wednesday, December 4, 2024
Muskegon Community College (MCC) is sounding the alarm for Michigan residents aged 21 to 24 to take advantage of the Michigan Reconnect Program, which offers tuition-free education at community colleges, before time runs out. The deadline to apply is rapidly approaching; Tuesday, December 31, 2024, and MCC is urging all who think they may qualify to apply now.
“For many individuals, Michigan Reconnect has been a life-changing program,” said Dr. John Selmon, President of Muskegon Community College. “We’ve seen firsthand the incredible impact it’s had—empowering students to earn their degrees, launch new careers, and achieve financial stability. This program is a testament to how education can transform lives, and we want to ensure everyone who qualifies has the chance to benefit.”
Reconnect covers in-district tuition costs, regardless of a person’s income or high school GPA, making it easier than ever to earn a degree or certificate without financial barriers.
The program is more than free tuition; it’s an investment in a better future for qualifying residents. Michigan Reconnect participants not only increase their earning potential but also have the chance to gain meaningful and rewarding employment.
“I was first a student here when I graduated high school, but then ‘life’ happened, and I had to walk away from my education,” said current MCC student, Jillian Allen. “I wanted to go back to school, I just couldn’t afford it. But then, Reconnect came along…and now, here I am pursuing my passion, and getting my degree in social work.”
