MCC Hosts Tutor Connection Event for Students Seeking Academic Support and Those Interested in Becoming Peer Tutors

Tuesday, April 1, 2025
Muskegon Community College (MCC) is inviting students to “Join the Knowledge Exchange!” on Tuesday, April 22, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at MCC’s Main Campus, 221 S. Quarterline Rd., in the Main Building, Room 3081N. This event is intended for enrolled MCC students only and is not open to the public.
Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with tutors, receive academic support, and explore the rewarding experience of becoming a tutor themselves. They will also learn about tutor requirements, discover available tutoring services, and engage with peers committed to academic success.
Manager of MCC Tutoring Services Emily Butkevich says that while many students initially hesitate to seek tutoring due to the vulnerability of asking for help, those who do often find it to be a transformative experience.
“Unfortunately, many students are reluctant to seek help from a tutor,” Butkevich said. “However, once they do, they are thrilled by the support they receive. Many even go on to become tutors themselves, inspired by the difference it made in their own studies. They want to pay it forward and help others succeed.”
Snacks will be provided, and students are encouraged to attend whether they need academic assistance or are interested in helping others achieve their academic goals.
For those in need of tutoring before the event, appointments and drop-in hours can be accessed through TracCloud HERE.
