MCC Music and Choral Groups
College Singers: The College’s full soprano, alto, tenor, and bass (SATB) chorus features MCC students and community members performing a wide variety of the choral repertoire. The Singers are under the Direction of Nicholas Palmer.
Collegiates: An audition-based select SATB vocal group, the Collegiates perform a wide range of musical genres from the 17th century to modern contemporary works for small vocal ensemble. The Collegiates are under the direction of Nicholas Palmer.
MCC Wind Ensemble: Conducted by Daniel M. Meyers and entering its ninth year, the Wind Ensemble is comprised of MCC students, both music majors and non-music majors, interested in preparing and performing advanced wind band literature.
MCC Jazz Ensemble: Comprised of MCC students, the Jazz Ensemble performs traditional and contemporary big-band jazz repertoire.
West Michigan WINDS: An adult community concert band celebrating its 41st anniversary this concert season, the WINDS has been affiliated with MCC since 1993. The band has performed at Carnegie Hall in 2016 and in England, Ireland, Wales, Austria, and Germany.
MCC Center for Theater
The Center, which operates within the Arts and Humanities Department and is directed by Les Rorick, provides theater classes for MCC students as well as a diversified schedule of performances. These include a season of plays produced by the College, an annual concert by the Overbrook Dance Theater, and touring productions of various kinds.
All performances take place in the Overbrook Theater on the Muskegon Community College main campus, 221 S. Quarterline Rd, Muskegon, MI 49442.

New Adjunct Dance Instructor Jovita Weibel
Modern Jazz and Social Dance
Jovita Weibel was born and raised in Switzerland from where she holds a degree in Education. After extensive training and touring around the world, she earned a BFA in Dance from the Ohio State University and the University of Toledo and an MFA in Dance from the University of Michigan, where she also taught courses in the Dance Department. Jovita was on the Dance Faculty at the University of Toledo and Hillsdale College, and for the past 16 years she headed the Contemporary Dance Program at the Conservatoire de Fribourg in Switzerland. She is a certified Humphrey-Limón teacher and a certified Stott Pilates instructor. Jovita was a member of various Dance Companies, iE The Peter Sparling Dance Company and Ann Arbor Dance Works and has choreographed extensively in the USA and in Europe.
She is excited to being part of the MCC family and is looking forward to sharing her knowledge and her love for Dance with you.
