This is a performance ensemble for students or community memebers with previous musical experience. Auditions will be held at the first-class session for placement within the group and to verify that the student/community member and ensemble are a reasonable match. High standards of musical performance are upheld. There are performances held throughout the year for student and adult audiences.

Wind Ensemble – Fall 2024
An advanced-level wind ensemble performing traditional to contemporary wind-band literature. The ensemble focuses on the rehearsal and performance of the repertoire. In addition to the biweekly rehearsals the ensemble performs two to four times per semester on-off campus.

JAZZ ENSEMBLE – Fall 2024
An ensemble dedicated to increasing the knowledge of jazz literature and improving skills in improvisation and ensemble playing through the preparation and performance of traditional and contemporary big-band jazz repertoire. In addition to the biweekly rehearsals the ensemble performs two to four times per semester on-off campus.

INCLUSIVE LEADERSHIP ACADEMY
Inclusive Leadership Academy seeks to train, and empower professional adults of color, and ultimately be a link for them to serve on prospective boards through the introduction of community resources and support. This program is designed to promote grassroots leaders and young professionals with the intent of creating a pipeline for diversity and inclusion on area boards and committees. The cost is $100.00. INCLUSIVE LEADERSHIP ACADEMY EXECUTIVE
Muskegon Community College (MCC) believes in investing in our Leaders of Color to create a community of distinction. MCC is pleased to offer the Inclusive Leadership Academy – Executive (ILA-EX) to foster and further the development of Black professionals.
ILA-EX content will be delivered through seven monthly meetings. (May – December annually)
You can expect keynote presentations, practicum, robust dialogues, self-reflection, and journaling time. As a participant, you will develop the broad and inclusive mindset needed for next-level leadership.
Tentative ILA-EX session topics:
- Session 1: Introductions, Team Building, Executive Leadership
- Session 2: Strategic Planning/Operations, SWOT Analysis
- Session 3: Finance Management/Budgeting, Intro to 360 Degree Evaluations
- Session 4: Formal Mentoring
- Session 5: Community Outreach, Debrief 360 Degree Evaluations
- Session 6: Diversity/Supplier Diversity, Mentoring next steps
- Session 7: Team Capstone Presentations/Graduation

MLK UNITY BREAKFAST
Each year Muskegon Community College hosts a county-wide breakfast in celebration of the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This event brings students, community leaders, organizations, and local residents together to hear from current freedom activists as they maintain the foundation of Dr. King’s beliefs. The goal of the MLK Unity Breakfast is to promote equality and justice for all people.
