Stay Connected

The Office of Advancement works to keep our alumni connected and involved with MCC.

We promote a close relationship between alumni and the College by fostering a spirit of loyalty and fraternity among graduates, former students, and friends. We encourage alumni to become personally involved in and financially support MCC activities.

Nominate a Deserving Alum for an Award

Nominations are accepted from mid-September through mid-December each year.

Distinguished Alumni Award

The Distinguished Alumni Award is the highest honor that Muskegon Community College bestows upon an outstanding graduate. The award salutes the achievements of exceptional alumni whose personal lives, professional achievements, and community service exemplify the goals of their alma mater.

Award recipients are selected based on the following criteria:

  1. MCC college career – the nominee must have earned an associate’s degree or certificate or completed a minimum of 50 credit hours at Muskegon Community College and have demonstrated a record of excellence in academics and extracurricular participation.
  2. Professional and Community Achievement – The nominee must have:
    • distinguished himself or herself through achievement or advancement in their career,
    • earned degrees,
    • professional training,
    • professional recognition and/or outstanding contributions to their field.
  3. Service to the community – The nominee shall have demonstrated a distinguished record of community involvement.
  4. Advocacy of higher education and/or support of MCC – The nominee shall have a successful record in one or both areas.
  5. The award recipient will provide a short address to the graduating students at Commencement.

Alumni Achievement Award

This award recognizes alumni within 15 years of graduating from MCC for extraordinary professional accomplishments.

Award recipients are selected based on the following criteria:

  1. MCC college career – The nominee must have earned an associate degree or certificate, or completed a minimum of 50 credit hours at Muskegon Community College and have demonstrated a record of excellence in academics and extracurricular participation.
  2. Professional and Community Achievement – The nominee must have:
    • significant early achievement or advancement in his or her career,
    • earned degrees,
    • professional training,
    • professional recognition and/or outstanding contributions to his or her field.
  3. Service to the community – The nominee shall have demonstrated a record of community involvement.
  4. Advocacy of higher education and/or support of MCC – The nominee shall have a successful record in one or both areas.

The award recipient will be recognized at the annual Distinguished Alumni Award dinner.
