Placement Guidelines

If the student has had Spanish courses in high school, this is a general guide for placement into Muskegon Community College's Spanish Language Courses.

Please note that every high school is different and the level of instruction varies greatly.  To better evaluate a student's ability, several documents are available on this site for review.  A student may review the course concepts covered, do a self evaluation, and review the vocabulary covered in the course.  Click on the item you wish to review.

Hispanic Students:

We do not currently have Spanish courses dedicated to the Hispanic student. The needs of a Hispanic student are different from the needs of students learning the language as a second language. This guideline may assist the Hispanic student in deciding which course to take. The Hispanic student may also refer to the concepts, vocabulary and self evaluation documents available on this site.

  • Speak Spanish at home, no formal Spanish education: Spanish 102
