I have worked in the College Success Center since 1975, starting as a tutor in the same program I now supervise. I have been the tutoring and supplemental instruction supervisor for twenty-seven years. I received my A.A. degree from Muskegon Community College in 1982 and then commuted for the next ten years to Michigan State University to complete a bachelor's degree in philosophy in 1992. I have had the role of facilitator for the last three years for the tutoring portion of a FIPSE grant procured by the Michigan Community College Association Virtual Learning Collaborative. It has been our job to design and help implement an online tutoring site for all of Michigan's community colleges. I also serve as a founding member and President of the Michigan Tutorial Association.
The Tutoring Center has a motto: There is no shame in seeking help. Even "Alexander the Great" had a tutor; his name was Aristotle.
