
Head Fastpitch Softball Coach Matt Houseman
Coach Houseman is beginning his first season at the helm of the Women's Softball program at Muskegon Community College. Prior to coming to the Jayhawk program, Matt held several coaching positions with various schoolsa and at various levels. Matt coached at Muskegon Catholic Central, Orchard View and Muskegon High Schools. He was also an assistant to Jim Moose during his tenure with the Muskegon Community College baseball program. Coach Houseman also has worked several camps at the University of Notre Dame. Prior to his coaching days, Matt played baseball at Muskegon Community College and Olivet College. He also traveld around the United States playing competitive fastpitch for 12 years.
Matt is supported by his beautiful wife (Heidi) and their five children, Jacob, Madison (deceased), Emma, Megan, and Mattie.
Coach Houseman's comments: "I am very excited about my first season here. We have a great group of returning sophomores with awesome attitudes and abilities. Our incoming freshman are solid and ready to work. I feel my job here at MCC is to bring this program to national recognition. Our campus and administration is top notch, I will put those up against anyone in the country. We will work hard and dedicate ourselves in the classroom and on the playing field."

Assistant Coach Colleen Morse
Coach Morse is in her second stint with the Jayhawk softball program. Previously she served as both the assistant coach and as the head coach. She got her start in coaching at Oakridge High, where she had the opportunity to coach J.V. Softball. She has also been a volunteer with the Athletic Department for many years.
Colleen has been employed by
Muskegon
Community College for 26 years. She is a graduate of
Oakridge
High School where she excelled at basketball and track for four years. She has played recreation softball for about 28 years and has been a part of a number of teams that have competed and won state championships both in women’s softball and co-ed softball. She is married to Rick and has one son, Ryan Schalk, who is a sophomore at MCC.
