Kathy was a previous adjunct instructor at MCC and began as a full time instructor in January 2005. She has clinical experience in many areas of nursing practice, including critical care and trauma/staff development. She graduated from Grand Valley State University with her BSN in 1987 and received her MSN from Michigan State University in 2001. She teaches the basic and advanced med surgical nursing. Pam is Department Chairperson and Director of the Nursing Program at Muskegon Community College. She holds a Master of Nursing degree from Michigan State University, is certified through the National League for Nursing as a Nurse Educator (CNE), and also is a site visitor for NLNAC. She is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner and a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). She also holds a Bachelor in Nursing from the University of Michigan and a diploma in Nursing from Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Pam's areas of specialty include nursing care of families throughout the lifespan, curriculum development, and mental health. She has been a faculty member since 1993. She also has previous teaching experience at Southwestern Michigan Community College and Grand Valley State University. Pam is a member of ANA/MNA, NLN, and Michigan NAPNAP and holds a current Michigan Registered Nurse License and Michigan Specialty Certification. Pamela Cengiz has been a full-time member of the nursing faculty since 1995, coming to Muskegon Community College Nursing Program from Baker College where she taught in their allied health courses. Her area of specialty is gerontology, and she teaches nutrition and basic medical-surgical nursing. Pam holds National League for Nursing Certification as a Nurse Educator (CNE). Pam earned an ADN from Southwestern Michigan College and a BS Degree in Education from Utah State University. She has a MSN from Michigan State University. Patricia DeVries has been a full-time member of the nursing faculty since 1984. Prior to 1984, she taught part-time at Muskegon Community College. Pat's areas of clinical expertise include adult medical surgical nursing and nursing management. She has practiced as a critical care nurse and in a hospital managerial role. Pat earned a Diploma in Nursing from Blodgett Hospital School of Nursing, a BS Degree from Western Michigan University, and a MSN from Grand Valley State University. Christina has 15 years experience in Obstetrics and Pediatrics. She is a graduate of MCC's Associate Degree Nursing Program, completed her BSN at Ferris and her MSN at Michigan State University. Chris is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner and works collaboratively with a local OB/GYN. She teaches primarily in her areas of specialty--maternity, pediatrics, family, and mental health and holds a current Michigan Registered Nurse License and Michigan Specialty Certification. Eileen Grunstra has been a full-time member of the nursing faculty since 1989, having taught part-time at Muskegon Community College since 1984. Her area of specialty is maternal--child health nursing, but she also teaches basic medical-surgical nursing. Eileen has worked as a staff nurse and supervisor on OB at both Mercy General and Hackley hospitals. Eileen earned a Diploma in Nursing from Hackensack Hospital School of Nursing, a BSN from Grand Valley State University, and a MSN from Grand Valley State University. Dennis Helmus has been a full-time member of the nursing faculty since 1996. Prior to 1996, he worked full-time as a staff nurse, then educator, at Mercy General Hospital and taught as adjunct faculty at Muskegon Community College. Dennis' area of specialty is gerontology, and he teaches basic and advanced medical-surgical nursing. Dennis earned a Diploma in Practical Nursing from Muskegon Community College, Diploma in Nursing from Hackley Hospital School of Nursing, BSN from Ferris State University, and MSN from Michigan State University. Barbara Holtrop has been a full-time member of the nursing faculty since 1994. Prior to coming to Muskegon Community College, she worked as a staff nurse at Hackley Hospital. Her areas of speciality are gerontology, medical-surgical nursing, and critical care. She teaches basic medical-surgical nursing, advanced medical-surgical nursing, and pharmacology. Barb earned a Diploma in Nursing from Hackley Hospital School of Nursing, a BSN from Ferris State University, and a MSN from Michigan State University. She holds a current Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license and is certified in ACLS. Barb is a member of MNA/ANA and Sigma Theta Tau. Mary Kaufman has been a full-time member of the nursing faculty since 2001. She was born in Stanley, Wisconsin and received her ADN at North Dakota State University, Fargo, N.D. She earned her BSN at Moorhead State University in Moorhead, Minnesota and MSN at the University of Kentucky in Lexington. She holds a current Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license. Mary's areas of clinical expertise are maternal-child nursing, intercultural communication, and acute postoperative pain. She has practiced as a registered nurse in five states. Jodie graduated with an Associate in Arts Degree from Muskegon Community College in 1989 and continued on to Grand Valley State University where she received her Bachelors of Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing in 1991. She's had a varied business career, including working with several aspects of the medical field. She has been the administrative assistant for the Nursing Department since 2001. Sandy Osborne has been a full-time member of the nursing faculty since 1984. Prior to 1984, she taught part-time at Muskegon Community College and worked part-time as a staff nurse at Hackley Hospital. While at Hackley Hospital, she worked on a Surgical Unit, Critical Care Unit and in the Operating Room. Medical-Surgical nursing is her specialty although she also enjoys Pediatrics. Currently, she is still employed at Hackley Hospital as a relief shift manager. Sandy earned a BSN from Northern Michigan University in 1974 and a MSN from Grand Valley State University in 1992. Chris Patterson has been a full-time member of the faculty since 2006. Before moving to Michigan, she was a full-time faculty member for the associate degree program at Texarkana College in Texarkana, Texas. She has worked on surgical units, telemetry units, and a cardiology step-down unit. She has been a staff nurse for an orthopedic practice, a case manager for Hospice of Michigan, and a unit manager in long-term care. She teaches basic medical-surgical nursing. Chris earned her AAS and BSN degrees from Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas. She completed her MSN from the University of Phoenix with an emphasis on nursing education. She holds current registered nursing licenses in Texas and Michigan and is certified through the National League for Nursing as a Nurse Educator (CNE). Sue is a diploma graduate of St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing. She has experience in critical care and medical-surgical nursing, nursing education, and nursing management. Sue is certified by the American Heart Association to teach ACLS. She holds a current Michigan Registered Nurse License and Michigan Specialty Certification. |
