MCC Definition of Excess Contact Hour Charge
There is an additional tuition charge for courses for which the number of "contact hours" exceeds the number of credit hours granted for the course. Contact hours generally represent the actual number of hours per week that the course meets, including any labs, performance time, or clinical instruction. The number of contact hours for each course is indicated along with the number of credit hours in the MCC Course Catalog. An additional tuition charge will apply only if the number of contact hours is greater than the number of credit hours. If the number of contact hours is equal to the number of credit hours, there will be no additional charge. The additional charge is determined by multiplying the difference between the number of contact hours and the number of credit hours by the tuition in excess of contact hour rate. Some classes also have fees; see the online class schedule for amounts.
