Associate Degree in Nursing graduate competencies

Upon completion of the Associate Degree in Nursing at Muskegon Community College, the graduate will demonstrate the following entry level nursing competencies:
Holistic Man Competency
Integrate concepts from human needs, growth and development, stress adaptation, family, and culture that relate to nursing.
Wellness-Illness Competency
Integrate scientific principles from the sciences and humanities to provide nursing care for groups of patients and their families with health needs across the Wellness-Illness Continuum.
Nursing Competencies
- Scope of Practice Competency
Demonstrate behaviors that indicate legal and ethical accountability in nursing practice
Collaborate with health team members to provide comprehensive care for patients and their families
Facilitate effective interpersonal communication with patients, families, and health team members
Evaluate and modify teaching plans based on patient outcomes.
Integrate the knowledge and skills of self and others to manage care for a group of patients
- Nursing Process Competency
Utilize critical thinking and the nursing process to meet health needs of patients and their families.
