Internship & Cooperative Education Makes the Difference

Real work -  Real experience
"An internship is an important key to linking
academic theory to your career objectives."

The Internship and Cooperative Education program at Muskegon Community College is an academic program in which classroom study is combined with career related work experience.  These real world opportunities are with business, industry, and health care organizations to mention a few.  Students who participate must meet the eligibility requirements determined by faculty within their chosen discipline of study.  Internship and Cooperative Education students earn academic credit and learn to apply classroom skills while establishing professional contacts with employer on the job.

The state of Michigan has launched a new website to assist students seeking internships or cooperative education position in the state of Michigan.  The website: www.michigan.gov/miintern is powered by the Michigan Talent Bank and features a search engine that allows students to review more than 400 internship opportunities by employer/organization name or location.

If you are a student inquiring about an internship, please fill out the Student Request Form.   For employers, please fill out an Internship Requirements form.  If you have questions prior to submitting either form, please contact Sally Birkam in the Student Life Office, call 231.777.0216 or email sally.birkam@muskegoncc.edu.

Past interns, please take a moment to fill out the Internship Survey so that we may see how the program is assisting in your academic and employment needs.  Just fill it in, print, and either fax or mail it back to the Internship Office at 221 South Quarterline Road, Muskegon, MI 49442.  If you have any questions, please contact Sally Birkam at 231.777.0216 or email sally.birkam@muskegoncc.edu.
