Online Tutoring
Since 2008, Muskegon Community College has made online tutoring available to any of its students who qualify for tutoring under normal guidelines. Students are strongly advised to take advantage of this free service if possible, and this document is a brief introduction to help get you started.
Notice: Online tutoring, just like traditional tutoring, is NOT a substitute for classroom instruction. The student is fully expected to attend lectures and utilize tutoring (online or otherwise) as an additional supplement to his or her learning.
Muskegon Community College subscribes to the AskOnline tutoring system; however, it has a very familiar look and feel. To get started with online tutoring, please follow the steps below.
Step 1: Register for an Account
Registration is simple, and involves filling in a few things about yourself so that you will be identifiable for the online tutors. Follow the link to MCC’s online tutoring above, and click on the “Register” link just above the “Login” button.

On the registration page, make sure that (1) you set your username to first initial + last name, and that (2) you use your MCC email address. To complete setting up your account, click on the “Register” button at the bottom of the form.
Step 2: Login
Go back to the login page, and enter your username and password exactly as you entered them on the registration form. Once you have done so, click “Login.”

Step 3: Locate your subject, and choose your resources
Once you have logged in, you will be shown your Home page. Below is an illustration of some of the available pages and how they can be of use to you:

Online help is available in a variety of forms. Clicking on the “Subject” tab will show you a list of available subjects and their respective tools. A brief description of these is as follows:

These resources and more exist to help you succeed if you are willing to take advantage of them. If you have any questions, please contact the Tutoring Center at 231-777-0393.
