Honors CreditsAn eligible student may earn Honors credit on a college-level course by completing one credit of coursework in addition to the requirements of the class. Eligibility: In order to register for and earn an Honors credit, a student must meet at least one of the following eligibility requirements:
Registration: Most available Honors credits are listed in the semester schedule; however, an eligible student interested in adding an Honors credit to a class for which an Honors option is not listed in the schedule may contact the instructor to inquire further. Before the start of the semester, the eligible student may register for an Honors credit using WebAdvisor; after the semester begins, the student will need a signed add slip to register for the Honors credit. During the first two weeks of the semester the Honors student should speak with his or her instructor about the requirements of the Honors credit. Honors Coursework: Instructors may assign the Honors coursework or work together with the student to develop a project plan. Honors projects may include extra reading, writing, research, public speaking, or practical/hands-on activities. Honors coursework must require the equivalent of one credit's worth of work. Benefits: An Honors student not only gets the benefit of having his or her Honors credit noted on the transcript, but also enjoys working one-on-one with a respected instructor in a field in which the student excels and finds interest. At the end of the semester, any student who earns a B or better in the course will be reimbursed for the tuition for the Honors credit. Contact:
