Student Employee Requirements
Pre-employment

Financial Aid
|

All student workers are required to fill out A Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and apply for financial aid through Muskegon Community College.
|
|
2.
|
Registration
|
|
|
All student workers must be registered for at least 6 credits during the semester and maintain a 2.0 GPA and be enrolled in an eligible program of study.
|
|
3.
|
Student Employee Payroll Forms
|
|
|
Completed forms that are required before beginning work:
|
|
|
- I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification - (Must bring one of each: driver’s license or picture state ID card and original social security card).
- W4 Federal Employees Withholding Allowance Certificate
- MI-W4 Michigan Employees Withholding Exemption Certificate
- Payroll Direct Deposit form (recommended)

4.

MCC Student Employment Application
|
|
|
All new student employees are required to complete an application to be kept on file in the Financial Aid office. Work study positions are not guaranteed and may be limited.
|
|
5.

MCC Student Employee Guidelines
|
|
|
The guidelines can be viewed at http://www.muskegoncc.edu/pages/1908.asp. Upon signing the Student Employment Form each semester you agree to abide by the terms and conditions of the program as outlined in the guidelines.

6.

Complete the Process
|
|
|
Return your completed Student Employment Form to the Financial Aid Office. Students are not authorized to begin working until all paperwork and signatures are received on the Student Employment Form each semester. Starting pay rate is $7.40 an hour. A Student Employment Form is required for each semester a student works.

7.
|
Student Employee Orientation
|
|
|
All student employees are required to attend a one-time orientation no later than their first semester of employment. Sessions last approximately one hour.
|
Continued Employment
Students are required to file a FAFSA for each school year. If you need more assistance, please contact the Financial Aid Office at 231.777.0236.
