Graduation Countdown for High School Seniors

Welcome to your high school graduation page and some steps to help prepare you for Muskegon Community College in the fall!

So you have finally reached your senior year of high school!  What an exciting time it is!  In the next few months, you will be confronting many new situations and will need to make some key decisions regarding your college plans.  We have compiled a handy checklist with some key dates and activities which you will need to be aware of before attending Muskegon Community College.  We urge you to look at the list below and start taking positive steps to make sure that your transition to higher education is a smooth and hassle-free experience.  The Enrollment Services Office at MCC looks forward to helping you make the transition. September and October Visit the college you plan to attend.  You can do an on campus visit and New Student Orientation/Piece Of The Pie at Muskegon Community College by calling (231) 777-0454.
October Check your high school guidance office for the days and times which MCC will be visiting your high school. Additionally, there are numerous college nights which are being held in our community. Check the time and location for these events.
November Prepare your college admissions application and submit prior to Thanksgiving. You can apply for MCC admissions by completing an online application . It's free!
December

Check out scholarship opportunities by going online at http://www.muskegoncc.edu   Go to the "quick links" box and click on Financial Aid, when the FA window opens on the left side of the screen click on

January

Happy New Year! Don't celebrate for long since this month you will need to start preparing your information to file your state and federal taxes. This is imperative since your tax information is needed for you to complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). You will need to also have your parents complete their taxes as well. After completing your tax forms, visit http://www.fafsa.ed.gov to file for financial aid.

 

February FAFSA seem complicated? Then join us for "FAFSA College Goal Sunday in February  2010. Details will be posted as they become available.
March

Ensure that your financial aid and admissions files are complete! Review your Student Aid Report (SAR) to make sure the data is correct.

Don't forget...New Student Orientation/Piece Of The Pie is the big event. This is one of the most important things you will attend next to your high school graduation.  This program is ongoing, just call (231) 777-0454 for details

Attend the "Taste of Tomorrow" event at MCC to get a first hand view of the college. A full scholarship will be given away. For complete details call (231) 777-0298 

April

Take the MCC Placement Test! Call (231) 777-0394 to arrange a testing appointment.

Stay focused- This is no time for "Senioritis" to set in. Your final grade point average from your high school experience will determine whether or not you will get a scholarship.

Reminder! The MCC Board of Trustees scholarship is due May 1, 2010.
