What is Phi Theta Kappa?

Phi Theta Kappa is the International Honor Society for the two-year college.

World-wide, there are more than 1.5 million members in over 1200 chapters of Phi Theta Kappa. Here at MCC, we have 71 members in our newly chartered Beta Xi Xi chapter, which has been in existence since November of 2005. We're not a new organization to MCC, though. In 1929, MCC chartered the Omega chapter of PTK; unfortunately, in 1982, the chapter dissolved. We're back in action now, though, and we're excited to share our passion for the four hallmarks of Phi Theta Kappa: scholarship, leadership, service, and fellowship!

We'd love for you to join us as we plan and carry out opportunities for scholarship and service on our own campus and in the Muskegon community. From book drives for Better World Books to discussion forums about our new Honors Study Topic ("Gold, Gods, and Glory: The Global Dynamics of Power") to partnerships with the Keep America Beautiful campaign and more, we have several opportunities to meet your interests and goals!

We invite you to participate in any of our programs and activities whether you're a member or not. We're all about involvement with our fellow Jayhawks and with the community at large. Or, if you have a 3.5 GPA and you have completed at least 12 credits at MCC, you may become a Phi Theta Kappa member. We induct new members twice each year.
