MCC Nursing Grads Surpass All State and National Pass Rates on Licensing Exams

Wednesday, August 05, 2009

Muskegon Community College nursing graduates continue to exceed all state and national NCLEX (National Council Licensure Examination) first-time pass rates, according to a report recently released by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.

The two licensure examinations, used to test the entry-level nursing competence of candidates for licensure as registered nurses and as licensed practical/vocational nurses, are administered by a national test service.

Pass rates for MCC students from 1 July 2008 through 30 June 2009 taking the practical nursing exam were 100%, compared to 94.60% in Michigan, and 85.28% nationally. For the registered nurse exam, MCC was at 95.65%, compared to 88.20% in Michigan, and 87.42% nationally.

MCC is proud to continue to provide the Muskegon community and surrounding areas with outstanding nurses, and is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, Inc. (NLNAC). For more information regarding the MCC Nursing Program, please visit our website at www.muskegoncc.edu/nursing.  Specific questions can be directed to the Nursing Department at 231.777.0281, and counseling appointments can be made at 231.777.0362.
